ILSR Intergrated Library System Reports

ILSR Vendor Survey

Are you concerned about the Year 2000? It looks like we don't have to worry when it comes to the IOLS industry. Our question was "What is the lowest version of the system(s) software that is Y2K compliant?" The response was almost unanimous, "All versions, all modules". I would still ask any of these vendors to clarify that when shopping for a system.

Z39.50 simply defined is an ANSI/NISO standard used to share information across a network. It allows researchers to use a single interface to search and retrieve information from disparate sources. See Peter Evan's Bibliotech Review article on Z39.50 for an excellent description of how this standard is currently being used and how its use might evolve in the future.
