New Web Resource Library from Winnebago Software Company integrates curriculum-enhancing websites into library collection. December 1999. Winnebago Software Company, a developer of library automation software and Internet technology solutions is introducing the Winnebago Web Resource LibraryTM, a subscription service providing an up-to-date cataloged database of educational websites. “Librarians and teachers around the world would like to supplement their school’s curriculum with high-quality, educational websites but they don’t typically have the time to find, assess, and catalog the sites,” notes Sarah Grinde, product manager for the Winnebago Web Resource Library. “Web Resource Library provides these sites through an effective and easy-to-use database.”

EOS International Announces Organizational Changes : New Structure Improves Strategic Planning and Globalizes Sales and Marketing Efforts. Carlsbad, CA, December 17, 1999. Electronic Online Systems (EOS) International is pleased to announce management changes in its North America Corporate Headquarters Office. Joe Matthews, former Vice President of Sales, has been appointed to the position of Vice President of Business Development. Companion Corporation Extends End Date of Free Alexandria Single-User Software Promotion. Salt Lake City, UT, December 15, 1999. Due to the overwhelming success of COMPanion's free Alexandria single-user promotion, COMPanion Corporation is extending the end date of its millennial promotion to April 1, 2000. Hundreds of libraries have responded to the free single user promotion. One district plans to automate over 20 of its elementary libraries with Alexandria. In contrast, several small private schools are automating their libraries for the first time. Libraries that take advantage of the offer gain greater library management flexibility.

Geac Announces Second Quarter Results : Revenues Grow 27% as a Result of Recent Acquisitions. Toronto, Ontario, December 14, 1999. Geac Computer Corporation Limited (TSE: GAC) announced today its financial results for the second quarter and six months ended October 31, 1999. Reflecting the impact of recent acquisitions, revenues for the quarter rose by 27% to $242.6 million compared to $191.5 million last year. Revenues for the six months increased 22% to $442.8 million compared to the previous year of $362.6 million.

Professor Victor Fajardo, Puerto Rico Secretary of Education, To Speak at Presentation of PROJECT SABER, The Island's First Centralized Library Automation Network 120 School and Public Libraries in Puerto Rico Will Be Automated with the SIRS Mandarin M3 Library Automation System. Boca Raton, FL, December 8, 1999. On Tuesday, December 14, educators, librarians and administrators representing public schools and libraries throughout Puerto Rico will gather at the Tropimar Beach Club and Convention Center in Carolina, Puerto Rico, for the presentation of Project SABER (Electronic Libraries Network Automation Systems), Puerto Rico's island-wide centralized library automation network. Project SABER, developed and implemented by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico, is part of the Department's efforts to revolutionize the educational process in Puerto Rico by creating a centralized educational network. Over 640,000 Puerto Rico students are projected to benefit from the network.

Air Force Bases Take Off With SIRSI. Huntsville, AL, December 3, 1999. Libraries on ten U.S. Air Force Bases have recently chosen Sirsi Corporation’s UnicornTM Library Management System to automate their base libraries. This integration tool was selected to provide an information resource that is powerful, yet easy to use for all members of the military family. District School Board of Niagara Chooses Follett Software Company to Automate 130 Schools. McHenry, IL, December 2, 1999. The District School Board of Niagara in Ontario, Canada, has selected Follett Software Company to automate its school libraries with award-winning Circulation Plus, Catalog Plus and WebCollection Plus software for Windows, as well as the company's new Union Catalog Plus product. The 130-school district will be switching more than half its schools from other vendors’ software and automating the remaining schools for the first time.

Endeavor Delivers Voyager NT : 16 Diverse Libraries Opt for Voyager Windows NT. Des Plaines, IL, November 30, 1999. Endeavor Information Systems announced that a total of sixteen Voyager customers have opted for an NT server solution. The Voyager NT customers are diverse, ranging from academic and theological libraries to specialized research and museum libraries. "In comparison to other systems, Voyager had what we were looking for," explained Joy Jewett, Assistant Director of the T.J. Jones Memorial Library at North Central University (NCU). "We wanted a smaller system and our campus IT group suggested an NT system. Now the University is exploring a campus-wide NT solution."

Human Resources Development Canada has chosen Best-Seller’s e-Library Network to link their 78 documentation centers across Quebec. Using Best-Seller’s web-based PortFolio software, users of the documentation centers will be able to manage and access their specialized collection from any one of its 78 centers across Quebec, or alternatively, from any location via the Internet.

Sagebrush Technologies Offers MARC Records of Quality Educational Web Sites. Austin, TX, November 12, 1999. Sagebrush Technologies announced today the release of WebMARC - collections of carefully-selected MARC records that point to educational web sites. WebMARC simplifies the process of locating online resources by providing MARC records of Internet sites that a library can import into its main collection. Data Research Associates Announces Fiscal 1999 Results : Annual Dividend Maintained at 12 Cents. St. Louis, MO, November 11, 1999. Data Research Associates, Inc. (DRA) (NASDAQ: DRAI) announced today that revenues for the fourth quarter of fiscal 1999, ended September 30, were $9.0 million, compared with $8.4 million in the same period last year. For all of fiscal 1999, revenues were $30.0 million, compared with $32.5 million for fiscal 1998.

Ameritech Library Services to be acquired by 21st Century Group and Green Leaf Ridge Co. Provo, UT, November 4, 1999. Ameritech Library Services (ALS), 21st Century Group, LLC, and Green Leaf Ridge, LLC today announced an agreement under which Ameritech, a company of SBC Communications, Inc., will sell ALS to a private investment group led by 21st Century Group and Green Leaf Ridge Company. The transaction is subject to approval by the SBC Communications Board of Directors. Ameritech Library Services, the world leader in library automation, supports more than 7,600 customer libraries worldwide with a broad spectrum of sophisticated software and hardware solutions that are service-oriented and Internet-enabled. The company will be renamed and will adopt a new logo, reflecting its new ownership, in the near future.

University of Botswana to Install Millennium. November 1, 1999. Innovative Interfaces, a world leader in Web-based solutions for libraries, will install its Millennium library automation software at the University of Botswana, based in Gabarone, before the end of 1999. The University will be the first Innovative site in Botswana; Millennium will replace EOSi T-Series and CDS/ISIS systems.

Open Text Corporation Announces Results For First Quarter Of Fiscal 2000 : Revenue Up 47% and Company Plans to Buy Back Up to 2 Million Shares. Waterloo, Ontario, October 28, 1999. Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX, TSE:OTC), the leading provider of collaborative knowledge management and corporate portal solutions, today announced results for its first quarter ended September 30, 1999. Revenues were $25.4 million representing an increase of 47% from revenue last year of $17.3 million. Net income excluding goodwill rose 32% to $3.4 million or $0.13 per share (diluted) from $2.6 million last year.

Inmagic Announces DB/TextWorks Version 4.0 and DB/Text for Libraries. Woburn, MA, October 26, 1999. Inmagic, Inc., leading developer of library automation and information retrieval software for the Web, intranets, CD-ROM and LANs, today announced the release of DB/TextWorks version 4.0, designed for information management on desktops and networks (Windows 95/NT).
